RAB32 S69R KI Mouse

The RAB32 S69R Knock-in Mouse, available as part of The Michael J. Fox Foundation Parkinson's Disease Catalog, is a valuable model for Parkinson’s Disease (PD) research. This model carries a knock-in of the RAB32 S69R mutation, in which the 69th amino acid, Serine, is replaced by Arginine. The RAB32 S69R mutation has been identified as a cause of autosomal dominant PD. This model, now available through Taconic as of June 2025, supports studies into PD genetics and pathogenesis.

Why Parkinson’s Disease Models are Essential for Drug Discovery

Parkinson's Disease mouse models are essential tools for advancing neurodegenerative research and accelerating drug discovery. These preclinical models mimic key pathological features of Parkinson’s, including dopaminergic neuron loss and α-synuclein aggregation. By enabling scientists to test therapeutic strategies in a controlled, reproducible environment, Parkinson's mouse models help predict clinical efficacy and reduce translational risks. Taconic Biosciences offers genetically engineered Parkinson’s Disease models that support the development of novel treatments targeting motor function and disease progression. Using validated mouse models in Parkinson’s research is critical for identifying biomarkers, optimizing dosing, and meeting regulatory requirements.
