Taconic Biosciences Announces Validation of Science-Based Emissions Reduction Targets by the SBTi

RENSSELAER, N.Y. — July, 2026 — Taconic Biosciences, Inc., a global provider of genetically engineered rodent models and preclinical research services, today announced that its near-term emissions reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The validation marks an important milestone in Taconic’s sustainability journey, which began in 2023 when the company committed to set science-based emissions reduction targets through the SBTi. Since then, Taconic has completed a greenhouse gas emissions inventory covering Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions and has established targets intended to guide measurable emissions reduction across its operations and value chain.

The SBTi formally approved Taconic’s targets on June 23, 2026. Taconic’s approved targets are:

By 2030 

  • Ensuring that 63% of our suppliers by emissions (covering purchased goods and services, upstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, and business travel) will have science-based targets.

By 2035 

  • Reducing absolute Scope 1 & 2 Greenhouse Gas emissions by 63% from a 2023 base year
  • Reducing absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions (covering fuel- and energy-related activities, upstream transportation and distribution, and waste generated in operations) by 37.5% from the year 2024 base.
