Customer Communication Update

Upcoming Change to Freight and Packaging Display on Quote and Order Confirmation Documents

Effective September 10, 2025, Taconic Biosciences will update how freight and packaging information appears on all Quote and Sales Order Confirmation documents for catalog model shipments. These changes are part of a broader transition to a new order management system designed to improve processing speed, accuracy, and flexibility.

What's Not Changing

You'll continue to see many familiar elements in your documentation:

  • Animal line items will retain their current format.
  • Packaging and freight will still be listed as separate line items for each delivery.
  • Contract-based shipments (such as colony management or custom model generation projects) are not impacted by this change.
  • Final invoices and total charges remain accurate, and itemized versions are available upon request.

What's Changing

Starting on September 10, 2025, you'll notice the following updates:

  • The line item previously indicating Taconic Transit Cages (Item codes: TTCLG-Low or TTCLG-High) will now display as "Packaging of Live Animals in TTCs" (Item code: TTC-Packaging).
  • Packaging and freight charges will each appear as a single unit charge on their respective lines. The quantity field will no longer represent the estimated number of boxes on the Quote and Sales Order Confirmation documents.

There is no action required from you regarding this change. This update is part of a transition to a new order management system, which will streamline processing and enhance overall efficiency for doing business with Taconic. These changes will add more consistency and flexibility for changes without the need to create new documents or order numbers.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to improve our systems and service experience. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your Taconic Biosciences representative or our customer support team.
