About the webinar:
With a growing number of immunodeficient mouse strains available, selecting the right host has become increasingly complex. The biology of each model influences engraftment, experimental outcomes, and data interpretation.
This webinar reviews commonly used immunodeficient mouse models, including Athymic Nude, SCID, NOD scid, SCID beige, Rag2 knockout, Rag2/Il2rg-deficient, and NOG mice. We will examine the genetic and immunological basis of immunodeficiency in each strain and discuss how differences in adaptive and innate immune function affect model performance.
Attendees will gain a practical framework for comparing models, understanding their strengths and limitations, and selecting hosts that align with their scientific objectives. Examples from xenograft, PDX, and human cell engraftment studies will illustrate how host biology influences study design and outcomes.
Participants will learn to:
- Compare common immunodeficient mouse models
- Understand key immune defects
- Evaluate model strengths and limitations
- Select appropriate xenograft hosts
- Interpret experimental outcomes
