2020 Microbiome Conferences can be found on Translational Microbiome Research Forum Looking for a microbiome conference or workshop? 2020 looks to be a banner year for microbiome conferences. Here are some upcoming sessions we'll be following with interest. As of the publish date of this Insight, there are over fifty 2020 conferences that have been announced so far.

Thirty-four of the 2020 events are hosted in the US or Canada, fourteen in Europe and Israel, and five in Asia. While many of the established conferences return, there are many new events to check out this year.

General-Interest Microbiome Conferences

The 6th Annual Translational Microbiome Conference will host workshops where participants can take a deep dive on different microbiome topics. Other general-interest conferences include the Microbiome R&D and Business Collaboration Forum (taking place in Taiwan and Amsterdam) and the Animal Microbiome Congress in London.

These meetings will include diverse topics, such as the use of microbiome-focused animal models in discovery, clinical applications, intellectual property, and bioinformatics.

Academic Microbiome Conferences

Two academic institutions are sponsoring microbiome meetings with a basic research focus:
  1. 2nd CMI International Microbiome Meeting (University of California at San Diego)
  2. Microbiome Center Consortium, Directors Meeting 2020 (University of Chicago)
Gordon Research conferences will host a meeting on Microbes at the Interface of Water, Air, and Human Health in Built Environments and Keystone Symposia will host six sessions with a focus on the microbiome, including Inflammation, Microbiota and Cancer and Synthetic Biology: At the Crossroads of Genetic Engineering and Human Therapeutics.

Phage and Virus Research Conferences

In 2020, there are four conferences focused on phage and viral research:

Sessions and Open Microbiome Webinars

Many larger society- or application-focused meetings include sessions on the microbiome, so be sure to check the agenda of your favorite conferences. Also, keep an eye out for microbiome webinars sponsored by companies and publications. These are often available as a recording if you miss the real-time event.

There are many microbiome meetings and conferences coming in 2020. You should be able to find one that suits your interest and provides an opportunity to network with others in your field.

World Microbiome Day is June 27th

World Microbiome Day 2020 takes place on June 27. Be sure to check out the website to see how you can participate in this year's World Microbiome Day theme of "the diversity of microbes, microbiome habitats, diets to feed and fuel microbiomes and diversity among microbiome researchers".

World Microbiome Day includes a diverse focus on food, plant, soil, animal, marine and human microbiome research.
