• The targeting vector has been generated using C57BL/6J DNA and transfected into C57BL/6NTac ES cell line.
• Keap1 exon 2 contains the translation initiation codon.
• Exon 2 has been flanked by loxP sites.
• The conditional KO allele has been generated after Flp-mediated recombination by crossing chimeras to a Flp-Deleter on a C57BL/6 background.
• The conditional KO line has been subsequently backcrossed to C57BL/6NTac animals for at least 2 generations and the Flp-transgene was removed by segregation.
• Deletion of exon 2 should result in loss of function of the Keap1 gene by deleting the BTB/POZ domain.
• The remaining recombination sites are located in intron regions of the genome.
• Data mining and Design performed in 2005.

GEM Collection models exist as cryopreserved materials. Models can typically be recovered and delivered to customers within 14-16 weeks after order receipt. Customers will receive:

• A minimum of four (4) mice mutant for the selected mutation. In rare cases where the cryopreserved material also contains a recombinase gene, this may be reduced to 1-2 mutant mice.
• Validated genotyping protocols
• Animal health report. Mice will meet Taconic's Murine Pathogen Free™ (MPF™) health standard.

Please note that in rare instances (2%) cryorecovery may prove to be difficult, either extending timeline or ultimately successful recovery.
