The targeting vector has been generated using 129SvEv DNA and transfected into 129SvEv ES cell line.
Gabra2 exon 4 was deleted by the neomycin resistance cassette, which is flanked by loxP sites.
Chimeric mice were produced and germ line transmission achieved.
The neomycin resistance gene has not been deleted in the constitutive KO mice.
Deletion of exon 4 should result in loss of function of the Gabra2 gene by deleting functional domains of the protein.
Gabra2 constitutive KO mice are in a mixed C57BL/6-129SvEv genetic background.
