Meet the team at Booth #90, or complete the form below to request a meeting to discuss your project needs with a scientist.

Taconic Biosciences is proud to attend FELASA 2025, the Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations. As a leading provider of rodent models, we fully support FELASA’s mission to advance the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and champion ethical, innovative research practices.

Our AWARE™ (Animal Welfare Aligning with Resource Efficiency) Program reinforces this commitment by providing an industry-leading framework for responsible research. It ensures studies are designed to meet scientific objectives while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare. Through structured monitoring of welfare observations, animal usage, and adverse phenotypes, AWARE™ aligns ethical practices with research efficiency—setting a new benchmark for the field.

We look forward to connecting with the global community at FELASA to share insights, foster collaboration, and drive responsible scientific progress

Scientific Program Manager, Taconic Biosciences

Taconic Aware Program:

Taconic is committed to upholding the highest standards of animal welfare while delivering innovative solutions that advance our customers’ research. Our AWARE™ (Animal Welfare Aligning with Resource Efficiency) Program reflects this commitment by promoting awareness and proactive management of animal welfare across our operations.

AWARE™ enables Taconic staff and the broader scientific community to design, execute, and monitor breeding programs that meet scientific objectives while prioritizing ethical care. Its launch marks a key step in establishing an industry-leading framework for monitoring welfare observations, utilization, and adverse phenotypes.

The program is built on two core pillars:

  • Design & Planning: Applies best practices, preventive strategies, and the 3Rs across all Taconic-managed colonies to align model production with demand and minimize surplus.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Establishes performance indicators, thresholds, and utilization metrics to maximize resource efficiency and reduce animal use.

The goals of the AWARE™ Program are to minimize animal wastage, support robust study design, improve transparency around pain and distress, and foster a culture of care that reduces compassion fatigue. Together, these efforts reinforce our commitment to ethical, responsible research.
