2008 Revisions to nomenclature for Taconic commercial models

Whenever possible, Taconic follows the guidelines set forth by the International Rat Genetic Nomenclature Committee and the International Committee on Standardized Nomenclature for Mice. Standardized nomenclature assists the identification of the desired model. The nomenclature for the line background of the TTM™ lines or Spontaneous Mutant models follows nomenclature guidelines for inbred, congenic, or mixed backgrounds. Nomenclature for transgenic models includes the currently accepted gene name or allele designation, including lab codes to designate the originator of the model.

When necessary, Taconic updates the nomenclature used for models to reflect updated gene names and additional information. To that end, Taconic has changed the nomenclature used for several models, effective immediately on the website and reflected in the 2008 Products and Services Guide. Following is an listing of previous and current nomenclature for all lines that have been changed, with a brief explanation of the reason for the change. Please be assured that the models themselves remain the same. We have just updated the nomenclature used to designate each model.

Please note that for all microinjected models, the gene of interest was previously italicized. That is no longer standard practice, so microinjected model nomenclature is entirely in regular type. That change has not been broken out for each model below.
