Borderline Hypertensive

Model Description

• Hybrid cross of SHR female x WKY male, also known as Lawler BHR Model
• Systolic blood pressures between 160 and 185 mmHg
• When subjected to stress using a variety of stressors, the male BHR develops severe hypertension (~190 mm Hg)
• Advance orders necessary. Lead time equal to the age of the BHR's at time of shipment plus 4 weeks.

Origin: The Borderline Hypertensive outbred model was developed by Dr. James E. Lawler et al of the University of Tennessee in the 1980's by intercrossing Spontaneously Hypertensive rats to Wistar Kyoto rats from Taconic's commercial colonies.
