Serology

IHMS^TM Serology panels are available for mice and rats and species-specific panels are available for gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits. In addition, individual agent immunoassays are also available for all the above species.

How to Submit Serum Samples

• Rodent serum should be sent prediluted 1:10 in physiologic buffered sale (PBS) in 3-4ml tubes, with tightly fitting caps.
• Rabbit sera should not be diluted.
• Critical minimum volume of diluted serum to be submitted:

  Single Test	0.25 ml
  Core Panel	0.5 ml
  Standard Panel	1.0 ml
  Comprehensive Panel	2.0 ml

  Mouse IHMS serology

  IHMS-2: diluted 1:10 200ul, undiluted 30ul

  IHMS-6: diluted 1:10 300ul, undiluted 35ul

  IHMS-13: diluted 1:10 350ul, undiluted 50ul

  IHMS-26: diluted 1:10 450ul, undiluted 60ul

  IHMS-52: diluted 1:10 600ul, undiluted 70ul

  Rat IHMS serology

  IHMS-2: diluted 1:10 200ul, undiluted 30ul

  IHMS-6: diluted 1:10 300ul, undiluted 35ul

  IHMS-13: diluted 1:10 350ul, undiluted 50ul

  IHMS-26: diluted 1:10 450ul, undiluted 60ul

  IHMS-52: diluted 1:10 600ul, undiluted 70ul

  IHMS Serology
  Diluted samples = 1:10 in PBS. These volumes are the absolute minimums and do not take into account amounts needed for retests and confirmatory testing. It is recommended to submit at least double of the volumes listed above.

• To dilute, add 1 part serum to 9 parts PBS.
• If needed, please call the lab for assistance with diluting.
• Serum shipments should be sent frozen on dry ice in a foam-insulated shipping unit or on cold pack. Same-day or overnight courier delivery service is recommended.
