Kathrin Phelan Midgley, Chair

Kathrin Phelan Midgley has a BA from Trinity College. She started her career working in nonprofit development and capital campaign management. For nearly 15 years she has been deeply involved in governance of Taconic. Kathrin was chair of the Phelan Family Council for four years and is the founding chair of the Phelan Family Enterprises board of directors. She served for several years on numerous committees of the Taconic corporate board of directors before her recent election as the first member of the third generation of her family to serve as a member of the board of directors. She is a published author and has lectured frequently on the topic of family governance. In addition to her work with Taconic, Kathrin has served as a board member for several nonprofit institutions. This combination of external and Taconic experiences position her well to Chair the current Board.

Leslie Charm, Independent Director

Leslie Charm has been a partner in the firm of Youngman & Charm since 1972, where he assists companies experiencing operational or financial problems and provides directorship for firms owned and operated by entrepreneurs. Youngman & Charm operates in a variety of industries and distribution channels, with a strong record of successful financing, acquisitions, and mergers.

From 1977 through 1990, he was Chairman and President of a major distributor and specialty retail chain. He also served on the Board of Directors of the International Franchise Association, as a director of the National Association of Corporate Directors - New England, and lectured worldwide on entrepreneurship and governance. He is a recipient of the Appel Award for Entrepreneurship.

He currently serves on the board of several firms and on the President's Council at Babson College, where he is a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship.

Tony Pucillo, Independent Director

Tony Pucillo earned his MBA from Columbia University. He is currently a Senior Managing Director, Chief Administrative Officer & Operating Partner at Corinthian Capital, a New York based private equity firm. He is focused on supporting the Corinthian Capital’s portfolio companies from a general management and operations perspective. Tony also serves on the advisory boards of several private companies. His knowledge of private equity, combined with his experience at both the operational and governance levels make him ideally suited to assist Taconic as a Board member.

Robert Rosenthal, Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Robert J. Rosenthal has more than 30 years of experience relating to companies involved in the development of diagnostics, therapeutics, medical devices, and life sciences tools. He currently serves on the Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. Board of Directors, where he is Chairman of the Capital Management Committee and a member of the Audit Committee and Compensation Committee. Prior to Taconic, Bob’s recent executive leadership roles include; Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of IMI Intelligent Medical Implants AG, a medical technology company that developed a retinal implant system for degenerative disorders; and as President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Magellan Biosciences, Inc., a provider of life sciences research tools, which he founded. His specific experiences include; strategic planning and positioning, corporate and product development, operations management, capital markets transactions, debt and equity financing, fund-raising, merger and acquisition transactions, corporate finance as well as public and private company board experience.

Bob holds a BS degree from the University of Maryland, an MS from State University of New York, a PhD from Emory University and an Executive MBA from Stanford University. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Universität Würzburg, Germany, as a guest scientist of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, followed by an additional post-doctoral fellowship at UCLA.

Charlotte Sibley, Independent Director

Charlotte Sibley has an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago. She has extensive experience in the life sciences industry, having worked for Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Bristol Myers Squibb and Shire in customer facing roles. She also has financial experience having spent time on Wall Street as an analyst for the pharmaceutical industry. She is also a lecturer at the Columbia University. Charlotte currently serves on several corporate, university and pharmaceutical advisory Boards. Her knowledge of leadership development, the life sciences companies and their customers, along with her experiences in advisory and governing roles, positions her perfectly to offer guidance to Taconic during this time of change.
